InSpiritry PODCASTS – Twenty Minutes to Rekindle Your Spirit!

The word, Community, suggests with-Unity. Are you living in full Community with God, with your inner Self, with Humanity as a whole and with Nature? Join Anne McCrady for this as she takes a look at how we can best make a difference in the world by first living in Unity.

Listen as Anne shares how we need Unity on many levels and how we can use our sense of Community for the Greater Good as we live each day. In this compelling program, Anne inspires listeners to make Unity a personal intention and Community a daily practice. What You Know Now

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Some time ago I was at a writers’ workshop at the Poetry at Roundtop festival near Austin, Texas. The instructor, Texas Poet Laureate Jack Myers had asked us to bring a photograph of ourselves as a child, and I was intrigued about what we were going to discuss. The photo I chose was one of me at age thirteen standing with my parents near an American flag hung in our yard on the Fourth of July. (more…)

In case you haven’t heard, there is a debate rumbling in American evangelical circles about what constitutes “the great moral issues of the day.” With the presidential race heating up and the Republican party struggling to find its way forward, the Religious Right is jockeying to decide what should matter most to its constituency. While every challenge offers us new chances to grow and learn and love, no truer words were ever spoken than the lyrics of a song by the late (great) poet, musician & activist John Denver:

Some days are diamonds; some days are stones.

Sometimes the hard times won’t leave us alone.

Sometimes the cold wind leaves a chill in my bones.

Some days are diamonds; some days are stones.

Since I have a friend who is facing one of those “stones” today, I thought I would share a story I often tell when conversation comes around to what in our lives has made us strong enough to face our fears. (more…)

InSpiritry at Work

This morning was one of those days when I woke up with a sense of needing more than ever to make a difference in the world.  Rising early, I decided to try to connect with people who use the internet as their call for help. Surfing Technorati, reading blog after blog of entries of folks I don’t know, I could almost hear people speaking their concerns out loud, like having a receiver tuned to the disparate voices in the digital cosmos.

One thing became perfectly obvious: there are a lot of folks who need to share their burdens: death, disappointment, failure, loneliness, inability to change, sickness, heartache, fear. Reading their very honest and open posts, I wanted to reach out to each one to lend encouragement or say the best thing we can say to one another, “Me too.” (more…)

No One Told Us – The American Experience

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Every year as June begins, I am returned to the joy of being ten or twelve with a whole summer ahead. Those days in the mid sixties were a hot, humid heaven!

Already there were forces at work inside me as I took part in the American experience. A science nerd, a Southerner, a white female, an upper middle class Christian, I saw the world as safe and just with unlimited potential, and I wanted that for everyone (especially the unconverted people we had never seen in China and Africa and Russia).

But there were things to come we could not foresee. (more…)

A Bangladeshi man visits a simple village of mostly poor women and their children. They tell him how desperate they are to get loans so that they can start small businesses selling goods or providing services. When he asks how much they need, he is shocked to find out most of them need just a few dollars. Seeing an opportunity for a solution, he takes money from his own pocket, gives some to each woman, asks that they pay him back as they can and encourages them to follow their dreams. Overjoyed, the women begin their work and within a while all of them are able to repay the man. He can then make new loans.

That is, in fact, a true story! (more…)
